Sunday afternoon, Grace and Ben attended their first concert--The Wiggles. For those of you who can't fill in the blanks after "Fruit Salad..." Or "Chugga Chugga ...", they're a Beatles-like quartet of kid-friendly Aussies with infectious energy and songs. And for those of you who do know them, good luck getting the songs I just mentioned out of your head--for at least a week.
Ben dressed as Captain Feathersword, a member of the Wiggle posse, and waved like a politician when anyone made a comment about his ensemble. Grace, opted for her usually girly duds, to Ben's great dismay (he couldn't understand why she wouldn't dress like Wags the Dog, another Wiggly comrade.) The highlight of the concert, was when two of the Wiggles made their way up our aisle and waved to and high-fived Ben--cue the heavenly chorus. Meanwhile, Miss Thang scrambled into my lap and would have crawled down my shirt if she could have. Her classic Santa Clause reaction--she's more of an "at a distance" admirer. All in all, we had a great time--even the daddies (although they're less likely to admit it :->.)
This third pic is our little wiggleworm, about to empty the contents of the kitchen drawers--yet again. We have locks on the dangerous stuff, but let him have a little harmless fun with our dishtowels and such. He stands and crawls like a jet-propelled rocket and walks along furniture to get where he wants to go. Walking independently--and running--is imminent.
Finally, on a more serious note, one of the bloggers I regularly read, Kelly Stamps, recently pointed her readers to a series of entries written by her father, a pastor, on why bad things happen to good people. His eight answers boil down to:
1) To test the strength of our faith.
2) To humble us.
3) To wean our dependence on worldly things.
4) To call us to eternal and heavenly hope.
5) To reveal what we really love.
6) To teach us to value God's blessings.
7) To develop in his saints' enduring strength for greater usefulness.
8) To enable us to better help others in trials.
When you have time, check out the full commentary--worth the read.
(This is the first entry; you can click on "newer post" at the bottom, or under "blog archive" on the right for more.)
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Wiggly lyrics to forget.
P.S. My apologies for the wacky spacing. Arrgh!
